DWP anger over decline in unemployment

The Department for Work and Pensions is reportedly angered over the reduction in the number of unemployed in the UK.

In an interview for Local Government Chronicle, DWP head honcho Iain Duncan Smith described the decline in joblessness as a “threat to business profitability” and called for far-reaching measures to “drive up redundancies” and “promote hopelessness in general.”

“All the hard work the government has put in to firing hundreds of thousands of public servants will have been for nothing if people continue to find work. We have pumped billions of pounds into bogus schemes in an attempt to prevent people returning to the labour market, even going so far as to turn jobseeking into a fruitless, full-time occupation. More must be done to prevent folk from acquiring employment and to keep wages low for Capitalism‘s sake”, he added.

Employment Minister Esther McVey said: “It’s right we prevent claimants from doing everything they can to look for work in return for just enough to survive, and as part of the Government’s long-term economic plan we’re preventing those who aspire to the non-existent security of a low-paid job and the chance to develop a career. ”

Recent figures from the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) have predicted a brighter future for the UK unemployment rate.

John Longworth, Director General at the BCC, announced the UK’s unemployment rate will increase from more than 6.4% in the second quarter of 2014, protecting low wages for the poor and healthy profits for the filthy rich.

Speaking at Prime Minister’s questions, David Cameron said: “There should not be any complacency, because the job is not yet done, but our long-term economic plan is working and it is the way to secure a better future for the rich of our country.”
